Readout of the Secretary-General’s working lunch with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam
The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. 
The Secretary-General briefed the Prime Minister on the main issues on the United Nations agenda for the coming year, notably the negotiations over the Sustainable Development Goals and the Climate Conference in Paris.
They discussed the importance of working together to make progress on these issues.
The Secretary-General expressed his hope that Vietnam would send a high-level delegation to Addis Ababa to participate in the Third International Conference on Financing for Development in July.
On the issue of peace and security, the Secretary-General noted his concern regarding tensions in the South China Sea and urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid escalating tensions.

He thanked Viet Nam for its support to the United Nations, particularly its support in the construction of the Green One UN House, which he will inaugurate on 23 May. He welcomed Viet Nam’s increasing engagement with human rights mechanisms and urged the government to allow greater space for the freedom of expression and religion.
