Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Raúl Castro Ruz, President of Cuba

The Secretary-General met today in Panama City, ahead of the Seventh Summit of the Americas, with H.E. Mr. Raúl Castro, President of Cuba. 

They addressed the historic participation of Cuba in the Summit of the Americas and spoke of the process of establishment of bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States, including the continuing embargo.

The Secretary-General praised Cuba's contribution to international efforts to fight the Ebola epidemic and invited President Castro to the UN Summit to adopt the post-2015 development agenda, to be held in September at UN Headquarters in New York.
