Read Out of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H. H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates

The Secretary-General met today His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister discussed a number of regional issues, especially the need for coordinated and rapid action to resolve the situation in Yemen. They also discussed Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. The Secretary-General looked forward to the UAE’s continuing support in dealing with these crises.

In addition, they exchanged views on the Sustainable Development Goals and the importance of positive action on Climate Change, as well as the need to combat terrorism.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed the forthcoming humanitarian pledging conference for Syria in Kuwait. The Secretary-General said he hoped that the international community would respond generously. He thanked the United Arab Emirates for their previous contributions.
