Later today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson will represent the Secretary-General at a condolence ceremony to pay the respect of the United Nations following the passing of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

Earlier in the day, the Deputy Secretary-General visited the Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Grand Mosque, where the funeral ceremony for His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud took place on Friday.

During his visit to Riyadh, the Deputy Secretary-General will also meet with members of the UN Country Team.

The Deputy Secretary-General will return to New York on 26 January.
