The Secretary-General met today His Excellency Mr. Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Secretary-General called for flexibility and creativity with a view to reaching a comprehensive agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme.  The two leaders agreed that all parties should seize the current opportunity to reach a win-win solution.

He encouraged Iran to engage constructively on Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, and thanked Iran for its help in encouraging the establishment of a more inclusive government in Baghdad.
