Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. James Michel, President of Seychelles

The Secretary-General met today in Apia, Samoa, with H.E. Mr. James Michel, President of Seychelles, at the Small Island Developing States Conference.

The Secretary-General thanked President Michel for his leadership among SIDS and in addressing climate change. He welcomed the confirmation of President Michel’s presence at the Climate Summit to be held in New York on 23 September.

They also discussed the issue of piracy off the coast of Somalia, including the support given to Seychelles by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
