On 26 June 2014, the Secretary-General met with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Ms. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, on the margins of the African Summit in Malabo.
The Secretary-General commended Africa for its agreement on a comprehensive and ambitious Common Africa Position non Post-2015. He noted the need to complete the unfinished business of the MDGs while embracing sustainable development as the responsive framework of the post-2015 era.
The Secretary-General reiterated his commitment to strengthen the strategic partnership between the United Nations and the African Union, including to developing a shared understanding of the causes of conflict in Africa and working together to resolve them. The Chairperson and Secretary-General discussed the challenges of peacekeeping in Africa.
