The Secretary-General met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia, Ms. Julie Bishop, before the opening session of the High-level meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation in Mexico City. 

They discussed the upcoming Conference on Small Island Developing States in Samoa, in September, as well as developments in Fiji, Myanmar and Papua-New Guinea/Bougainville.  

The Secretary-General thanked Australia for its commitment to promoting the post-2015 development agenda and welcomed Australia’s continued leadership under the Chairmanship of the G20.
