The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Matteo Renzi, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic.

The Secretary-General thanked Italy for being a key partner in multilateral efforts to strengthen peace and stability around the world, from supporting the transition in Libya to Lebanon, where Italy plays a central role in the UN’s peace operation. They discussed the situation in Ukraine and the need to find a political solution to the crisis.

The interlocutors exchanged views about the security and political situation in Libya, and the Central African Republic. They also agreed on the need to tackle climate change.
