Readout of the Secretary-General’s breakfast meeting with H.E. Mr. Christian Friis Bach, Minister for Development Cooperation of Denmark

The Secretary-General met today with the Minister for Development Cooperation of Denmark, Mr. Christian Friis Bach.  During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual concern to Denmark and the UN.  Topics included the preparations for the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the need to accelerate progress towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals. During the meeting, the Secretary-General commended Denmark for its leadership role on a number of key global issues, including on climate change and international development.

In addition, they discussed the situations in Mali, in the broader Sahel, in Afghanistan and in Somalia.  They also exchanged views on the crisis in Syria, including on the ongoing efforts to swiftly implement Security Council Resolution 2118 (2013).
