The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. János Martonyi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary. They exchanged views on the importance of the Budapest Water Summit as a platform for a dialogue among a broad array of stakeholders on key water and sanitation issues. They stressed the strategic role Hungary plays through the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals in guiding the identification of priorities for a renewed development agenda. And they agreed on the imperative of addressing climate change.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed regional developments in Central and South-Eastern Europe as well as cooperation between the UN and regional organisations.
