Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. François Hollande, President of France

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. François Hollande, President of France.  They discussed the developments in Syria and ways of avoiding further spill over into Lebanon.  They also exchanged views on the political, security and humanitarian situation in the Central African Republic and the role of France in supporting a resolution of the crisis. 

They discussed the latest political and security developments in Mali, the collaboration between the French operation Serval and the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), as well as the situation in the broader Sahel.  The Secretary-General and President Hollande also exchanged views on the need for urgent international action to combat climate change.
