The Secretary-General met today with the Minister of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Mr. Madhav Prasad Ghimire, on the margins of the annual meeting of the Economic and Social Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General and Mr. Ghimire discussed the Millennium Development Goals and the significant progress made by Nepal in this regard. They also exchanged views on climate change.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed the recent flooding in Nepal, as well as the political situation in the country and Nepal’s contribution to peacekeeping operations.
