Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Lieutenant General Seretse Khama Ian Khama, President of the Republic of Botswana
The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Lieutenant General Seretse Khama Ian Khama, President of the Republic of Botswana.

The Secretary-General and the President discussed the importance of cooperation between the United Nations and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). 

The Secretary-General welcomed Botswana’s continued leadership on climate change, voicing hope that an agreement on climate change will be reached by 2015. He also commended Botswana’s initiatives to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to address resource scarcity and food insecurity.
