The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Denis Sassou Nguesso, the President of the Republic of Congo, in Addis Ababa today.

The Secretary-General praised the President for his efforts to address the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR), in his capacity as Mediator in the crisis there, and for hosting the first meeting of the International Contact Group on the CAR.

The Secretary-General reiterated the United Nations’ commitment to continue to support the efforts of the Economic Community of Central African States and the African Union in supporting the transition process in the CAR.
