Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister

The Secretary-General met today with the Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, H.E. Mr. Michael Spindelegger.

During their meeting, they discussed the crises in Syria and Mali and the urgent need for effective international responses.

They also exchanged views on the Middle East Peace Process, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Western Balkans, human rights, including the protection of journalists, and UN reforms.

The Secretary-General thanked the Minister for Austria's contribution to the United Nations, notably to peacekeeping, and for hosting the Fifth Global forum of the Alliance of Civilizations.
