The Secretary-General met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, H.E. Mr. José Manuel Garcia-Margallo.

The Secretary-General thanked Spain for its important contribution to the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.

During their meeting, they discussed the situation in Syria, Lebanon and Mali as well as in the wider Sahel region. On Mali, they exchanged views on political developments and the stabilisation mission.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed developments related to Western Sahara and the mediation activities undertaken by the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara.
