The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Michel Sleiman, President of the Republic of Lebanon, on the margins of the Pledging Conference on Syria.

The Secretary-General and the President discussed the situation in Syria. The Secretary-General commended the Lebanese Government for its hospitality and generosity in hosting more than 200,000 Syrian refugees. He also expressed his appreciation to Lebanon's commitment to keeping its borders open to the many more seeking to enter.

The Secretary-General commended the President for his leadership in preserving Lebanon's stability and security from the destabilizing impact of the conflict in Syria.

The Secretary-General praised Lebanon for its disassociation policy regarding the Syrian conflict.
