Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Djibouti,on the margins of the 67th General Assembly

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Djibouti.  

The Secretary-General and Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf discussed key peace and security challenges in the Horn of Africa region, especially the importance of furthering the security and stabilization process of Somalia, including by the provision of sustained international support.

The Secretary-General gained perspective on Djibouti’s forthcoming Parliamentary elections and encouraged Mr. Youssouf to continue to engage the United Nations on all matters relevant to Djibouti.
