The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Kang Chang-Hee, Speaker of the National Assembly of the ROK in Seoul on Tuesday. 

The Secretary-General stressed the importance of the ROK's role in the maintenance of international peace and security and lauded the ROK’s active participation in the United Nations.

The Secretary-General and the Speaker discussed ways of addressing global challenges through collective action and multilateralism, notably the Millennium Development Goals and sustainable development. They also discussed the ROK's contribution to peacekeeping and the UN budget.

The Secretary-General appreciated the ROK's commitment to enhancing its contribution to meeting the development goals including through increasing official development assistance.
