The Secretary-General was hosted at dinner this evening by Defence Minister Ehud Barak.

They discussed developments in the Middle East and the Peace Process. The Secretary-General remains hopeful that the parties will remain engaged in the talks hosted by Jordan.

The Secretary-General also raised the situation in Gaza and urged the Defence Minister to take further steps to improve conditions in Gaza.
