Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on the terrorist attack in Pakistan

The Secretary-General condemns today’s suicide bombing close to the premises of a polio eradication centre in Quetta, Pakistan, reportedly killing at least 15 people, and wounding 25 others.

The Secretary-General reiterates that nothing justifies terrorism. He urges the Government of Pakistan to take all necessary measures to swiftly bring to justice the perpetrators of such attacks.

The Secretary-General extends his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes the injured a speedy recovery. He expresses his sympathies to the people and Government of Pakistan.
