The Secretary-General takes note of the provisional results of the second round of the presidential election in Niger as announced by the National Independent Electoral Commission on 14 March. The Secretary-General welcomes the peaceful and credible conduct of the poll, which constitutes an important step towards restoring democratic governance to the country. He commends voters for participating actively in the election, as well as all those who worked tirelessly for a peaceful transition in Niger, including the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy. The United Nations will continue to assist the people of Niger and the future leadership in addressing post transition challenges.

Le Secrétaire général prend note de l'annonce des résultats provisoires du second tour de l'élection présidentielle au Niger, tels que rendus publics par la Commission Electorale Nationale Indépendante le 14 mars. Le Secrétaire général se félicite du déroulement pacifique et crédible du scrutin, qui constitue un pas important vers la restauration de la gouvernance démocratique dans le pays.
