The Secretary-General met jointly with the President of the European Council, H.E. Mr. Charles Michel, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, H.E. Mr. Josep Borrell.

They discussed the war in Ukraine and its global impacts, particularly on food security. They expressed concern about the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in the Sahel and the adverse impact of the wave of unconstitutional changes of government in the region. They also discussed climate change and preparations for COP28, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals.
