The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Ezéchiel Nibigira, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Burundi. The Secretary-General reiterated the full support of the United Nations to the East African Community (EAC)-led facilitation of the inter-Burundian dialogue and to the efforts of his Special Envoy, Michel Kafando. Responding to a request by H. E. Mr. Ezéchiel Nibigira, the Secretary-General expressed the readiness of the United Nations to support the Burundian elections scheduled to take place in 2020.

Le Secrétaire général a renouvelé le plein soutien des Nations Unies à la facilitation du dialogue inter-burundais menée par la Communauté de l’Afrique de l’Est et aux efforts de son Envoyé Spécial, Michel Kafando. Répondant à une requête de S.E. M. Ezéchiel Nibigira, le Secrétaire général a exprimé la disponibilité des Nations Unies à apporter son soutien au Burundi pour les élections prévues en 2020.
