Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. François Louncény Fall, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guinea

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. François Louncény Fall, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guinea.

They discussed the situation in Guinea in the context of the legislative elections held today. The Secretary-General praised the key role played by his Special Representative for West Africa, Mr. Said Djinnit, and his national counterparts in the inter-Guinean dialogue which paved the way for the elections.

The Secretary-General also commended Guinea for its commitment to pursue security and justice sector reform, and reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations to continue to support efforts in this regard. He further urged Guinea to pursue efforts against impunity for violence and Human Rights violations in the country.
