Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan

The Secretary-General met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Nawaz Sharif, today. They discussed a range of topics, including the Government’s new agenda for tackling challenges in Pakistan, Pakistan’s role at UN, and its valuable contributions to UN peacekeeping operations. They also discussed efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals in Pakistan, matters of humanitarian concern and the need to invest further in Disaster Risk Reduction and efforts to strengthen resilience against the impact of natural disasters. The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister also discussed developments in the region, including the situation in Afghanistan.
