Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Abdullah Gül, President of Turkey

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Abdullah Gül, the President of Turkey, on the margins of the NATO Summit.
 
Their discussions covered Syria, Cyprus, Afghanistan and Somalia. 

On Syria, the Secretary-General thanked the President for the generous support of the Turkish Government and people for Syrian refugees. He said the Joint Special Envoy continues to push for all sides in Syria to stop the violence and implement the six-point plan.

On Cyprus, the Secretary-General expressed his concern about the lack of progress in the negotiations in recent months.
