Secretary-General's press encounter following meeting with West European and Others Group (unofficial transcript)

Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General

Q: Mr. Secretary-General, can we just ask you one quick question? What was your agenda and what did you accomplish today?

SG: We just briefed them on the oil-for-food [programme], where we are following the approval of the [Security] Council resolution [1472] and to tell them how we are going to proceed.

Q: And do you think you are going to be able to get the aid there within the 45 days, get a substantial amount of aid there, are you confident?

SG: We hope so. That's the basis on which we are operating, and we would also have to count on the support of the parties.
