After visiting Damascus, Joint Special Representative Lakhdar Brahimi is traveling to Moscow to meet on Saturday with Foreign Minister Lavrov. The spokesperson would like to clarify on his behalf that Mr. Brahimi never mentioned that President Assad should stay in power until 2014. He has consistently been saying that the transition should start as soon as possible, that a government should be established as soon as possible, and that he hopes that the crisis can be solved in 2013 because it cannot wait until 2014.
