On 9 December 2015, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, recognizing the contribution young people can make to preventing conflict and sustaining peace.

In the Resolution, the Security Council members called for examples on how youth contributes to peace all over the world and sought recommendations on how to move forward.

SPEAK UP

So, on 9 December 2016, upon the first-year anniversary of UNSCR2250, we are asking young women and young men to speak up.

Share with us how you or others in your community work for conflict prevention and sustainable peace.

Let us know what you think the United Nations and its Member States should do to further involve youth in building peace.

HOW?

Post your response using #ActOn2250 on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, or Flickr.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

  • We will highlight selected contributions in this campaign and during an event with Member States and top UN officials in January 2017 in New York.
  • We will feature contributions on social media and the web.
  • We will use the feedback for the Progress Study we’re working on for the Security Council.

More resources will be coming soon, so stay tuned!
