The Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi, is set to visit Lusaka, Zambia from 16 to 20 March 2016.

During his first official visit to Zambia, the Envoy will meet with government officials responsible for youth development and representatives of youth organizations and networks. Alhendawi will also meet with the UN Country Team in Lusaka to discuss youth programming and he is scheduled to visit local youth projects supported by the UN.

On March 16th, Alhendawi will deliver a keynote address at the 3rd Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians on behalf of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Convened under the theme of ‘Agenda 2030: Youth leading the way, leaving no one behind’, the conference will discuss ways for enhancing youth political representation and participation.

On 20 March, the Envoy is scheduled to address the IPU 134th Assembly. The Assembly’s proceedings this year will focus on rejuvenating democracy by giving voices to young people. The Assembly will also discuss ways for harnessing the energy and ideas of young people and ensuring their full participation in the social, economic and political development.
