Pacific youth on island of Niue joined by UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth!

Travelling to the Pacific island “Niue”, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi, encouraged Pacific youth to take action supporting and implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and tackling Climate Change.

Joining 26 members of the Pacific Community, youth representatives and development partners at 9th Conference of the Pacific Community in Niue, Alhendawi’s visit emphasizes the needed investment in, and role for, Pacific youth in creating opportunity for youth-led actions to address Climate Change and achieve sustainable development.

Boarding shortly for my second visit to a pacific island: “Niue” (An island territory in the pacific). I will join the Ninth Conference of the Pacific Community focusing on youth, sustainable development and climate change, and meet with youth groups from the pacific region. Later this month the world leaders will meet in Paris with a hope to reach a historic climate change agreement. There is no better place to serve as a reminder for the urgent need to tackle climate change than the Pacific islands. Looking forward for an inspiring time with my friends in the pacific!

A prison without prisoners in the crime-free Niue, and 100% enrollment rate in primary and secondary education. I love this island!
