New York, 30 July, 2015 – Yesterday the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Mr. Ahmad Alhendawi, delivered opening remarks at the 2015 JCI Global Partnership Summit. This year’s summit, which also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the JCI, is organized with the support of the Office of the Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth.  The event brings together 500 members of JCI national chapters from 50 countries.

In his opening remarks, the Envoy highlighted the importance of meaningful engagement of young people in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and invited JCI to encourage and support the wider youth participation in the process. “The whole world is looking forward to UN General Assembly Summit in September, when we expect the inauguration of the new set of sustainable development goals- one of the groundbreaking documents in the history of mankind”, noted the Youth Envoy. Mr. Alhendawi also highlighted the important role of the United Nations in advancing the global development agenda and creating a platform for dialogue and exchange. He congratulated JCI for promoting similar values across the globe.

The Junior Chamber International Summit will continue its work through July 31, 2015 and will provide participants the opportunity to exchange unique ideas and thoughts and engage in constructive debate that will advance concrete action toward sustainable development.
