The Office of the Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, UNESCO and UNDP met in Paris on 20-21 January 2015 to hold initial discussions on the establishment of a global initiative on youth policies, which is called for in the Baku commitment on youth policies. The Baku Commitment is the result of the First Global Forum on Youth Policies which was co-convened by the mentioned UN System partners along with the Council of Europe and which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan at the end of October 2014. The global initiative will seek to support member states in the development and implementation of youth policies and is intended to be rolled out in the course of the next months. Furthermore, briefings with representatives of permanent missions to UNESCO of select member states took place in the margins of the Paris meeting. Paris, January 2015 with Ms. Irina Bokova

During his trip, Mr. Alhendawi also met with the UNESCO Director-General Ms. Irina Bokova and Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) Secretary-General H.E. Ms. Michaëlle Jean as well as their Youth Team to discuss future partnership opportunities.
