The UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth welcomed 100 students from Mexico to the United Nations Headquarters earlier today to talk about Youth Participation and Democracy. The students came in as a part of Red por el Desarrollo Integral de la Juventud (REDIJ) project, the Colegio de la Globalizacion, that aims to provide students with fundamental tools and skills necessary for both their personal interaction with our globalized world and the development of the work force.

Alhendawi spoke to the students about his youth work within the UN system in addition to sharing his personal experience as envoy. He engaged in discussions with the delegation on Post 2015 actions and challenges that the youth are currently facing globally.

“We cannot spell ‘young’ without UN” Alhendawi shared a quote from the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.

Alhendawi encouraged the students to keep the conversation going to help ensure youth policies within their country were a priority.
