World Food Programme and the European Commission’s Department for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) launched a photo competition as joint initiative to capture the latest element of “The Family Meal – What brings us together?” project.

Why is sharing a family meal important?

In today’s rushed world, it is more important than ever to make time to sit down with your loved ones and enjoy a meal together. That is why we are shining the spotlight on the universal custom of the family meal.

Until 11 January 2015, you are asked to capture why sharing a family meal is important to you. Is it because of the special family recipe, which has been secretly passed on for generations? Is it because you are together only once a year, and therefore that one family meal is extra special? Or, could it be that you use products from your own garden which you have grown with tender care?

Capture why the family meal is important to you using the hashtag #FamilyMeal and post it on any of your favourite social media platforms! This will give you a chance to win prizes by Jamie Oliver and have your photo included in the Family Meal exhibition.
