On 25 September 2014, the Office of the UN Envoy on Youth hosted a World Youth Café Breakfast in partnership with The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UN and UNFPA. The theme was, Young People in the Post-2015 Agenda: A Commitment for Present and Future Generations.

The breakfast brought together special guests, His Excellency Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, UNFPA Executive Director, Babatunde Osotimehin, the Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, and 45 youth delegates and experts working in partnership with the UN on the priority areas of the Global Youth Call.

The breakfast event served as intimate roundtable discussions between special guests, youth delegates and youth experts focused on exploring how the post-2015 agenda, the wider UN agenda and national policies can respond better to youth priorities, and to galvanize commitment of leaders and youth to expand opportunities for young people.

The two themes presented by the organizers to facilitate the conversations were ‘Employment and Entrepreneurship’ and ‘Governance and Participation.’

At the wrap up of the event, The Youth Envoy, asked participants to #ShowYourSelfie, a global ‘selfie’ campaign launched by UNFPA and Global Citizen to urge world leaders to prioritize the needs and rights of young people in the post-2015 development agenda.
