Task Force
on Gender Mainstreaming in Programme Budget Processes
Under the
leadership of OSAGI, the Task Force has undertaken two projects
on gender mainstreaming in programme budget processes. The work
was initiated with an inventory of efforts made, both within
and outside the UN, to incorporate gender perspectives in institutional
budgets. Case studies have been carried out in ten UN entities
to assess the extent to which gender perspectives are incorporated
into programme budgets. A workshop has been organized for Europe-based
entities, bringing together all institutional stakeholders to
review and consolidate the experience to date. A synthesis report
on the findings so far has been prepared. In light of the experience
gained from the ten case studies completed in the first two
projects, five more case studies will be completed by the end
of 2002. UNFPA will prepare a 'good practice' example on the
institutional impact of participating in the project. Following
completion of the third project, an interim report will
be prepared, outlining the objectives, process and outcomes
of the work of the task force. A final workshop will be organized
in early 2003 to disseminate the findings of the work of the
task force.
