The United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW) organized, in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), an Expert Group Meeting on "the role of men and boys in achieving gender equality" which took place in Brasilia, Brazil from 21 to 24 October 2003. The Expert Group Meeting formed part of the Division's preparation for the forty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women, which will address this topic as one of its thematic issues.)
