Informal thematic debate on the theme "Gender equality and the empowerment of women" (6 - 8 March 2007)
From 6 to 8 March 2007, the President of the 61st session of the General Assembly, H.E. Sheikha Haya Rashed Al Khalifa, organized an informal thematic debate of the Assembly on the theme "Gender equality and the empowerment of women". The event consisted of a general debate with more than 80 speakers, including 20 Ministers, and two interactive panel discussions on "women in decision-making" and "the empowerment of women, including microfinance". The High-Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development took place on 14 and 15 September 2006 in New York at UN Headquarters.
