Prepares analytical studies and reports to intergovernmental bodies on priority areas
identified in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the Outcome Document of
the 23rd special session of the General Assembly, in particular related to women and
poverty, education and training, health, peace, economy, decision-making, institutional
mechanisms, environment, girl-child, ageing women, globalization, migration, rural women,
gender in development;
Organizes expert group meetings, workshops and panel discussions
to gather knowledge on emerging issues and trends
and examine the implementation of the Platform for
Action and the outcome document of the twenty-third
special session of the General Assembly (Beijing +5), and to
assist the Commission on the Status of Women in
its monitoring functions;
Prepares comprehensive reviews on progress made in implementation through identification
of good practices, lessons learned, emerging issues and trends;
Maintains a network with international organizations, civil society, including NGOs and
academia on substantive matters related to gender issues.
