Biographies

Dr. Aruna Dewan
India

Medical toxicologist; Deputy Director, National Institute of Occupational Health; 21 years of experience in occupational health; member, IPCS/INTOX Poison Centre working group; started first poison information centre in Western India ; Head, Poison Information Centre, NIOH, Ahmedabad; carried out experimental studies on metals, pesticides and methyl isocynante (Bhopal gas); occupational health problems of women in the unorganized sector is one research priority of the National Institute of Occupational Health; has undertaken a number of programmes jointly with SEWA (Self Employed Women's Association), one of the largest women's organizations in India.
