The CEDAW Committee celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary on Monday, 23 July 2007, 11.15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UNHQ, New York.

The Committee held its first session in October 1982. Its past and present members, as well as its chairpersons, have come from all regions. The Committee’s Bureau serves for two-year terms.
