The Participants
Prime
Minister Hon. Apolo Nsibambi was appointed to the portfolio of
Prime Minister of Uganda and Leader of Business in April 1999. Before then,
he was the Minister of Education from May 1998 to April 1999 and Minister
of Public Service from July 1998. He has also an extent experience in the
academic sector as he was Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Head of
the Department of Political Science, Director of the Makerere Institute
of Social Research and Professor of Political Science and Public Administration. |
H.E. Don Jesús Posada Moreno, Minister for Public Administration of Spain was appointed in April 2000. Before then, he was Minister of Agriculture from April 1999 to April 2000. He has been elected to Parliament in several opportunities, representing Soria and has been Chairman of the Committee on Infrastructure. From 1991 to 1993 he was Senator for Castilla y Leon and Chairman of the Committee on Budget. |

Mr. Carlos Genatios, Minister for Science and Technology of Venezuela,
was Vice-Minister of Urban Development and is member of the Board of Directors
of Corpovargas, Urban Development Fund and Metro de Caracas Co. He is professor
at the Universidad Central de Venezuela since 1981. He holds a doctorate
from the National Institute of Applied Sciences of France, and post-doctorates
from the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Toulouse, and from the
Laboratory of Mechanics and Technology of the University of Paris VI. He
is author of more than 100 specialized articles in national and international
publications. He has been visiting professor at the University of California,
University of Rio de Janeiro, National University of Nicaragua, University
of Liverpool, University of Rome, University of Marne La Vallee, and University
of Madrid. |
Prof.
Anthony Giddens, Director of the London School of Economics and Political
Science, was appointed in 1997. He was previously a Fellow and Professor
of Sociology at King's College, Cambridge. He is the author of 34 books,
published in 29 languages. He has seven honorary degrees. Professor Giddens
has taught in the University of Leicester, Simon Fraser University in Canada,
University of California, University of Cambridge in which he still teaches
Sociology. He also holds academic appointments from Boston University, Harvard
University, New York University, La Trobe University in Australia, Indiana
University, University of British Columbia, University of Rome, University
of Paris and Stanford University among many others. |
