Water Voices: Solar powered water supply systems help save lives in rural hospitals, Sierra Leone

Brief Description: 2013. Tiyama Hospital is located in Moyamba, a rural district in Southern Sierra Leone which lies approximately 150km from the capital, Freetown. Tiyama is just one of many health centres being supported by UNICEF and their local partner Safer Future across Sierra Leone. A solar powered handpump has been built, which now provides enough clean water to allow clean drinking water, pour flush toilets and multiple handwashing facilities to support the entire hospital as well as neighboring communities.
