On 10 November 2025, a delegation of the Bureau of the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People visited Bras\u00edlia, Brazil. The delegation was led by Ambassador Coly Seck, Chair of the Committee and Permanent Representative of Senegal, and included Ambassador Ernesto Sober\u00f3n Guzm\u00e1n (Vice-Chair, Permanent Representative of Cuba), Ambassador Ahmad Faisal Muhamad (Vice-Chair, Permanent Representative of Malaysia), Ambassador Pendapala Andreas Naanda (Permanent Representative of Namibia), and Ambassador Ibrahim Alzeben (Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Brazil).<\/p>\n

During the visit, the delegation held bilateral meetings with Brazilian counterparts to strengthen cooperation and advance efforts toward a just and lasting solution to the Question of Palestine.<\/p>\n

The delegation met with Mrs. Carolina Dias dos Reis, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, to discuss accountability for perpetrators of human rights violations against Palestinians and the ongoing reconstruction process in Gaza. Mrs. Dias dos Reis reaffirmed Brazil\u2019s strong support for Palestine and commended the Committee\u2019s work.<\/p>\n

At the Brazilian Senate, the delegation met with Senator Teresa Leit\u00e3o to emphasize the importance of maintaining public attention on the plight of the Palestinian people and on Brazil\u2019s role in internation efforts for the promotion of Palestinians\u2019 rights and aspirations.<\/p>\n

The delegation also held discussions with Ambassador Maria Laura da Rocha, Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs, who led a team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting focused on building on the momentum generated by the recent International Conference on the Two-State Solution and the adoption of the New York Declaration, exploring ways to encourage broader recognition of the State of Palestine and leverage Brazil\u2019s influence in international affairs to promote a lasting solution.<\/p>\n

In addition, students of the Rio Branco Diplomatic Institute, representatives of civil society organizations, and members of the Palestinian community in Brazil engaged with the Committee in an interactive dialogue.
