It cannot take responsibility for the accuracy of the information.<\/span><\/div><button style=\"color:#a0a0a0;border-color:#a0a0a0;\" type=\"button\" class=\"close toggle-alert\" data-dismiss=\"alert\" aria-label=\"Close\">&times;<\/button><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-2 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p><strong>5 August 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Middle East<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 5 August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alhaq.org\/advocacy\/18706.html\">Al-Haq<\/a> published a statement by the Palestinian Human Rights Council (PHROC) \u201cInternational Community\u2019s Silence Incentivises Israel\u2019s Continued Shrinking of Palestinian Civil Society Space\u201d, in which it \u201ccalls upon the international community to finally align itself with its legal obligations, and to urge Israel to [\u2026] cease any and all practices and policies intended to intimidate and silence human rights defenders and civil society organisations.\u201d PHROC and Al-Haq also \u201curge the international community to recognise and address silencing efforts as part of Israel\u2019s settler-colonial and apartheid regime imposed over the Palestinian people as a whole, and to take meaningful and effective steps to ensure international justice and accountability for Palestinian victims without further delay.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>United Nations<\/u><\/strong><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 3 August, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/\">Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People<\/a> held closed consultations with civil society organisations as a virtual engagement with CSO representatives from Palestine, Israel and the international community with a special focus on the situations in East Jerusalem and Gaza and on advocacy in the United States.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><p><em>This newsletter informs about recent and upcoming activities of Civil Society Organizations affiliated with the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
