The event<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> took place<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> on<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">21<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">April 2020 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and was livestreamed on the Committee Facebook page<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UN.palestinianrights\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UN.palestinianrights\/<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">V<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">i<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ewers<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> posed questions via the Committee&#8217;s Facebook page and via email. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The event <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">featured <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a conversation between the Committee Bureau<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">and three<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Palestinian civil society<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> representatives<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Mr. <strong>Ali <\/strong><\/span><strong>Gheith<\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, a Palestinian journalist and activist <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">East Jerusalem; Ms. <\/span><strong>Randa<\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> Siniora<\/strong>, Palestinian human rights and women\u2019s rights activist and General Director of the Women\u2019s Center for Legal Aid and Counselling<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in Ramallah<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">; and Mr. <\/span><strong>Issam<\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> Younis<\/strong>, the Director<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2013<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">General of the Al <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mezan<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Center for Human Rights in Gaza.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The 1.5-hour <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">event<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> addressed <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">how the Palestinian population in the West Bank <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2013 including East Jerusalem<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2013 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and Gaza wa<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">coping with<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> the COVID-19 pandemic under the ongoing occupation, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">political uncertainty in Israel and threats<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> of annexation<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
