On 28 March 2019, the\u00a0Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People<\/a>\u00a0held its 395th meeting in Conference Room 11 at\u00a0UN Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n

H.E. Ms. Adela Raz, Permanent Representative of Afghanistan was elected as one of the Vice-Chairs.<\/p>\n

The main points of discussion related to the deteriorating situation in the OPT, as outlined by the Secretary-General in his report on resolution 2334 ( 2016) on 26 March at the Security Council,\u00a0 the findings of the reports by the Commission of Inquiry investigating the 2018 protests in the OPT, submitted to the Human Rights Council on 18 March, and statements regarding the status of the Golan Heights. Concerns were raised in view of the one-year anniversary of the Great March of return, on 30 March, which might trigger additional protests. \u00a0In reference to the report of the Committee Delegation visit to Belgium and EU institutions, Member States praised the usefulness and timeliness of the visit and stressed the need for a continued engagement with EU partners.<\/p>\n
